Diploma Course Content

 

FIRST YEAR

36 weekly sessions and 4 Saturday Workshops spread over three twelve week terms.

 

All seminars throughout the 3-year training programme are taught on both a theoretical and experiential level.

 

Sessions for this year are comprised of:

 

One 2 hour Seminar followed by an experiential group session lasting 1 hour 20 minutes.

 

Seminars cover:

Term 1-The Practice of Counselling

Term 2– The Practice of Psychodynamic Counselling

Term 3– Developmental Psychology

 

THE EXPERIENTIAL GROUP

The experiential group provides a setting in which to develop insight and self-awareness, to explore relationships and to experience group dynamics, in the presence of an experienced facilitator.

 

YEAR 2

36 weekly sessions and 3 Saturday Workshops spread over three twelve week terms.

 

Sessions for this year are comprised of:

Two seminars lasting 1 hour and 45mins each.

Seminars cover:

Term 1- Seminar 1– Psychodynamic Concepts.

Term 1- Seminar 2– Psychopathology.

 

Term 2-Seminar 1– Further Psychopathology.

Term2-Seminar 2– Ontology.

 

Term3-Seminar 1– The Clinical Practice of Psychodynamic Counselling.

Term3-Seminar 2– Counselling in context.

 

YEAR 3

 

36 weekly sessions and 3 Saturday Workshops spread over one twelve week term and two ten week terms.

Sessions for this year in Term 1 are comprised of:

Two seminars lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes each.

Term 1-Seminar 1– Research

Term 1-Seminar 2– Further Psychodynamic Concepts

 

Sessions in Term 2 and 3 are comprised of:

One Seminar lasting 2.5 Hours.

Term 2-Seminar 1– Couples, Groups and Families.

Term 3-Seminar 1– Further Practice of Counselling, Reflections and Endings.
