Couples Counselling Course

Basingstoke Counselling Service is taking the evolving coronavirus pandemic seriously and we’d like to reassure you that the health, wellbeing and safety of our clients, team and those attending our courses is of paramount importance to us.

In light of this the Couples Counselling Course will now continue in September/October/November/December 2020


A ten day course in couples counselling for qualified counsellors with a minimum of one-year post-qualifying counselling experience.

Course Tutor:  Dorothy Harte

Dorothy is an Integrative psychotherapist (UKCP, Reg. MBACP) who has been working with individuals and couples for over thirty years. She has an M.A. in Integrative Psychotherapy and is currently the Head of Counselling for Alton Counselling Service. She is an experienced and intuitive trainer who has a reputation for delivering engaging experiential training courses.

Couples 2 element*:  £530.00

*Days 6,7,8,9 and 10 – only applicable for those who have completed Couples 1 training with Dorothy Harte

BCS counsellors are entitled to a 50% reduction on the above prices

3 19th Sept Working with relationships.  A look at different theories -systemic, object relations and transgenerational issues
4 20th Sept The uses and meaning of sex in a relationship
5 17th Oct Stages of divorce.  Kinds of divorce and revisit of attachment theory
6* 18th Oct Loss and grief in divorce
7* 14th Nov New relationships. Role of forgiveness. Emotional stages of development
8* 15th Nov Problems from the past – a look at use, shame and fear in the context of the couple
9* 5th Dec Repeating patterns.  Building an assessment interview
10* 6th Dec Blended families.  Family cultures and styles


Providing you have achieved an appropriate standard in skills practice, a Certificate in Couples Counselling Skills will be awarded by Basingstoke Counselling Service. This will enable you to see couples under appropriately qualified and experienced couples work supervision.
