A ten day course in couples counselling for qualified counsellors with a minimum of one-year post-qualifying counselling experience.

Course Tutor:  Dorothy Harte

Dorothy is an Integrative psychotherapist (UKCP, Reg. MBACP) who has been working with individuals and couples for over thirty years. She has an M.A. in Integrative Psychotherapy and is currently the Head of Counselling for Alton Counselling Service. She is an experienced and intuitive trainer who has a reputation for delivering engaging experiential training courses.

Venue: Basingstoke Counselling Service, London Road, Basingstoke, RG21 4AN

Dates:               The 50hr course will take place over five weekends across a five month period:

29th Feb/1st Mar, 28th/29th Mar, 18th/19th Apr, 16th/17th May and  20th/21st Jun 2020 (10am to 4pm).


Cost:                Full course:  £1060.00 (Early-bird price £954.00 if booked before 30th November 2019). Payment in installments available.

Couples 2 element*:  £530.00

*Days 6,7,8,9 and 10 – only applicable for those who have completed Couples 1 training with Dorothy Harte

BCS counsellors are entitled to a 50% reduction on the above prices

2 1st Mar Relationships.  What do we mean by marriage now? Stages of a relationship
3 28th Mar Working with relationships.  A look at different theories -systemic, object relations and transgenerational issues
4 29th Mar The uses and meaning of sex in a relationship
5 18th Apr Stages of divorce.  Kinds of divorce and revisit of attachment theory
6* 19th Apr Loss and grief in divorce
7* 16th May New relationships. Role of forgiveness. Emotional stages of development
8* 17th May Problems from the past – a look at use, shame and fear in the context of the couple
9* 20th Jun Repeating patterns.  Building an assessment interview
10* 21st  Jun Blended families.  Family cultures and styles


Providing you have achieved an appropriate standard in skills practice, a Certificate in Couples Counselling Skills will be awarded by Basingstoke Counselling Service. This will enable you to see couples under appropriately qualified and experienced couples work supervision.
