Relationship Support

BCS Logo V Small

All sorts of people experience difficulties in their relationships. Retirement, redundancy, personal loss, infertility, parenting, children and step-children, sexual difficulties and communication issues are just some of the challenges that can affect relationships for better or worse.

Sometimes issues can be resolved within the relationship, and other times, it can feel more difficult to find a way forward. We are here to help you understand what may be affecting your relationship, so you can decide if you want to make changes.

Whether you are young or old, straight or gay, currently single or in a relationship, we can help you individually, as a couple, or both. If you choose to seek counselling as an individual seeking relationship support, please visit our Individual Counselling page.

How much does it cost?

Counselling takes place on a 60 minute session per week basis for as long as the couple and the counsellor together think is beneficial.

We ask for a donation of £60 for the first session. For ongoing sessions, we ask for a donation of between £30 and £60, which is dependent upon your financial circumstances and will be discussed and agreed once counselling commences.

We rely on the donations we receive from clients to cover our running costs of providing a high quality, professional service.  We try to raise funds by applying for grants, but we have no direct regular source of funding from outside agencies.

Our counsellors give their time on a voluntary basis, and we are also fortunate to have volunteers who undertake clerical and administrative tasks.

Please note that we can only accept donations by cash or cheque (except for the initial appointment, see below); at present we are unable to process credit cards.

How do I apply for Couples Counselling?

Call us on 01256 843125 or email us at

We will then send you an information pack which includes a contact details form, which we ask you to complete and return to us with a £60 donation for your first session.

Your initial £60 donation can be paid by cash, cheque or bank transfer. Please make cheques payable to Basingstoke and District Counselling Service. Our bank details are:

Sort Code: 40-52-40                         Account No. 00017311
Held at: CAF Bank Ltd, 25 Kings Hill Avenue, Kings Hill, West Malling, Kent, ME19 4JQ

Unfortunately we are unable to accept bank transfers as payment for ongoing sessions.

Once you have returned your completed form and donation, we will be in touch to arrange your counselling. (If for any reason it seems at this stage that couples counselling may not be appropriate, we will contact you to discuss your application.)

After your application

We carefully select a counsellor to support you who

  • Is trained to listen and understand
  • Will meet you once each week for a 60 minute session
  • Will help you find your own answers

All sessions take place at Basingstoke Counselling Service, Goldings, London Road, Basingstoke RG21 4AN.  For clients who are unable to use stairs we can offer an appropriate alternative venue.
